SERVICES FOR THE COMMUNITY
Youth Mental Health First Aid
The LeaderShop partners with NAMI Metro Suburban to host Youth Mental Health First Aid training in the La Grange community. Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people.
Mandated Community Service
We provide junior high and high school students who have received mandated court or police appointed community service hours the opportunity to complete their hours through The LeaderShop. Whenever possible, staff members connect these young people directly to programs with the hope that they will find the service worthwhile and continue to be connected after their mandated service is complete.
Kiwanis K-Kids
As one of the largest service leadership programs for elementary students, K-Kids has over 22,000 members and 1,100 clubs worldwide. The program fosters student-led community service through local clubs, supported by Kiwanis clubs and advisors. K-Kids emphasizes service and leadership, contributing to global efforts that raise nearly $390 million annually.
The LeaderShop provides staff members to Brook Park Elementary in La Grange Park to help with the coordination of their club.
