MIDDLE SCHOOL
After School Program
Our After School Programs provide quality individual, academic, and social support to youth in the program through learning and enrichment activities and homework assistance from high school students and adult volunteers. The After School Program utilizes social emotional learning activities to encourage personal growth and reflection for youth.
Mentoring Program
Our Mentoring Program is a mutually beneficial experience that pairs youth ages 6-12 years old in need of additional adult presence in their lives with a trusted adult mentor from the local community. Mentor matches are encouraged to spend a minimum of four hours a month together participating in activities that can help expand each person’s worldview including, volunteering, trying new foods, making crafts, participating in fun activities, attending local events, and more. Our Mentoring Program also brings all matches and youth on the waitlist together once per month for planned social and creative activities.
Camp LeaderShop
Camp LeaderShop is our summer program designed to keep students academically, physically, socially, and civically engaged throughout the summer months. Participants in 1st through 8th grade from all across our service area come together five days a week for a half-day summer camp. At Camp LeaderShop, youth participate in traditional camp activities such as: large group games, small group activities, field trips, and more! In addition to these activities, each day of camp also includes one hour of academic practice. This focus on academics works to prevent the “Summer Slide.” Through each week’s activities, participants explore a different leadership trait and practice putting that trait into action. By the end of the summer, youth are ready to take on the next school year, more confident in themselves and their abilities.

Emerging Middle School Leaders
Our Emerging Middle School Leaders Program (formally Middle School Leadership Program) empowers 6th- 8th grade junior high students to build relationships with their peers while developing into confident leaders through the planning and implementation of service projects that benefit their community. The middle school students also participate in team-building activities, workshops, and social outings which help them further develop their leadership skills while building relationships with community-minded peers.
Middle School Leadership Experience Day
Each year, The LeaderShop hosts a Middle School Leadership Experience Day where youth grades 6th-8th can come together to listen to inspirational speakers, engage in empowering small group discussions, participate in team-building challenges, and make new friends from all around the local community. The program is held in September.
Rides and financial assistance are available. Please contact Claudia Rojo, Program Manager, for more information at ClaudiaR @ theleadershop.org or call (708)579-5898.
